Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

Note Keeper does not collect your data. Your notes are stored only in your browser and are never sent to us or to the cloud.

About this policy

This policy explains how the Note Keeper browser extension handles data while you use it. It applies to the extension published on the Chrome Web Store — not to the mowebstudio.com website, which has its own policy.

Note Keeper is developed by a Brazilian company, and data handling follows Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13.709/2018, "LGPD").

Who the data controller is

DIGIWEB SOLUÇÕES DESENVOLVIMENTO E LICENCIAMENTO DE SOFTWARES LTDA (trading as Mowebstudio), company registration (CNPJ) 62.912.798/0001-03, based in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Privacy contact: contato@mowebstudio.com.

What data Note Keeper handles

The extension only stores what you create inside it:

  • Your notes: the title, the text, any link you attach, and the date the note was created.
  • Your theme preference (light or dark).

All of this is saved locally in your browser, using Chrome’s local storage. This data never leaves your device: it is not sent to us, it does not reach any server, and it is not synced to your Google account.

What we do not do

  • We do not require sign-up, login, or any personal data to use the extension.
  • We have no server that receives your notes — there is nowhere for them to go.
  • We use no telemetry, analytics, or tracking of any kind inside the extension.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
  • We show no ads.

Permissions and why they exist

The Chrome Web Store requires the extension to declare the permissions it uses. Each one serves a specific purpose:

  • Storage: to save your notes and theme preference in your browser.
  • Active tab and tabs (activeTab, tabs): to read the address of the page you are viewing, so it can be attached to a note when you ask. We only read the current tab’s URL, at the moment you trigger that action.
  • Side panel (sidePanel): to display the Note Keeper interface in the browser’s side panel.
  • Alarms: to run an automatic cleanup of the trash, permanently removing notes you deleted more than 24 hours ago.

Third-party services

To work, the extension’s interface makes a few connections to external services. None of them transmit the content of your notes:

  • Google Fonts: the font used in the interface is loaded from Google’s servers when the extension opens. In that request, Google receives technical data from your browser, such as your IP address.
  • YouTube: when you open a note containing a YouTube link, the video’s thumbnail is loaded from YouTube. If you click to watch, the video opens in a new tab on YouTube itself. These requests go to Google/YouTube servers.
  • Chrome Web Store: Google periodically checks whether a new version of the extension is available in order to update it. This is the standard update mechanism for any Chrome extension.

Use of these services is governed by the privacy policies of the respective companies.

Where your data lives and how to remove it

Because everything is stored locally, you are in full control:

  • To delete a note, remove it inside the extension. Notes in the trash are permanently removed after 24 hours.
  • To erase everything at once, remove the extension from your browser. Uninstalling deletes all data it stored along with it.

International data transfers

The third-party services mentioned above (Google Fonts, YouTube, and the Chrome Web Store) may process technical data on servers outside Brazil. This is limited to information such as your IP address — the content of your notes is never transmitted. When it occurs, the transfer follows Chapter V of the LGPD.

Children

Note Keeper is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children — in practice, we collect data from no one.

About this website

This page is part of the Note Keeper marketing website (notekeeper.mowebstudio.com), which is separate from the extension. Unlike the extension, this website uses Google Analytics to measure audience in aggregate — page views, traffic source, and device type.

Google Analytics uses cookies and your IP address, and is enabled by default to measure the site’s audience. On your first visit, a notice informs you of this use and lets you decline; if you decline, analytics is disabled and the site keeps working normally. You can revisit your choice at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring this website’s own audience (LGPD Art. 7, IX). Google may process this data on servers outside Brazil, under Chapter V of the LGPD.

Changes to this policy

If the way the extension handles data changes, we update this page and the date at the top. The version published here always prevails.
